Idaho Falls Ski Swap 2018

November 8, 2018 by sugar

If you are looking to buy equipment this year the Idaho Falls ski swap is going on this Friday and Sat Nov 9th and 10th 2018.  It is held at the Pinecrest Event Center 560 E. Anderson Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83401 (next door to Fred Meyers).  This is a great place to get new and used equipment for your student at a discount price and avoid having to wait in the rental line.

You can find more info on their website at https://ifskiclub.com/ski-sale-fest/

2020 Season Changes

Here are a few new changes for the 2020 season to be aware of.

  • No deposits this year, full payment due in order to reserve your spot by Dec 6th.
  • Venmo is our preferred payment method to keep costs down for everyone. Paypal does charge fees which we have absorbed in the past and would like to keep to a minimum if possible.
  • Reservation Cap - We have a limited number of seats available on a first come basis. Full payment is needed to save your seat.
  • Parent / Sibling Passes - This year all parent and sibling passes will be purchased at the Kelly Canyon ticket office. You will give the ski student name that you are with, they may also ask for ID to match the address. Parents - $20, K-12 Siblings $17.
  • Helmets are strongly suggested for all students for their safety. You can purchase a used helmet for under $20 or new for $40+. Kelly Canyon does have helmet rentals for $6 each day but are not guaranteed to have them available or the right size for your child.
  • Equipment Purchase vs Rental - It is encouragedto purchase equipment for your child rather than rent. Rental lines can be long where your child can spend 30 min to 1 hour just waiting for their equipment. This takes away from their 4 hours of ski time each week. Used equipment can be purchased from numerous places around for around $100-$150 for a complete setup. Then it can be sold or traded in the next year for new sizes and ends up being cheaper than renting each year. Used equipment can be found at the Idaho Falls Ski Swap on Nov 8-9th or contact one of our directors for other sources.
  • Idaho Falls Ski Swap is Nov 8-9 if you are needing gear. More info here.

Parent Info

We have added a resources page with helpful info for parents. The parent info document has a lot of useful information for schedule, rentals, pick up times, parent/sibling passes and more. There is also a copy of Kelly Canyon's rental form that can be printed and filled out in advance to save time in the rental shop. Check it out here. Sugar Salem Ski School For 2020 Season

Sugar Salem School District will offer a ski/snowboard instructional program again this year for students from Kershaw, the Junior High and the High School. We can transport approximately 200 people including bus directors so registration will be on a first come-first serve basis..

The dates of this year’s program are Fridays, Jan. 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th. Students will leave from their school at 2:00 pm and return to Kershaw at approximately 8:15 pm. Jan 24th is a teacher-inservice day with no school for students. We will leave at 8:30 am that day so we can get everyone’s gear loaded and up to Kelly Canyon in time for lessons. We will return approximately 3:00 pm on the 25th.

Deadline date for applications and balance due: Friday Dec 6th

The cost of the program includes:

  • - Transportation from the schools to Kelly Canyon and back to the schools
  • - Lift pass for four hours
  • - 1 hour group Ski/snowboard lesson from certified Kelly Canyon Instructor
  • - 4 weeks of learning a lifetime recreational skill while having fun!

All ski school participants must ride up to Kelly Canyon on the bus. Please do not bring COMPUTERS on these trips. The bus will not be secure and the machines could easily get damaged. Students will have to make arrangements to leave them at the high school or with friends/family.
